High Tea for a Cause Photos

St Andrew’s High Tea for a Cause on Wednesday 20 October was a huge success raising in excess of $3600 for UnitingCare Glenelg community support programs.

The smiles and laughter of our happy guests filled the church hall as all observed the COVID-19 checking-in and sanitising routine cheerfully. And as they left, a great many of our guests offered their thanks and appreciation for the hard work and wonderful hospitality of the St Andrew’s volunteers. Also appreciated was the beautiful message from Minister of the Word Christine Gilbert. Christine spoke of St Andrew’s mission to welcome all into our community and shared heartwarming stories from our community.

Guests were entertained with music by the talented students from Brighton Secondary School led by Head of Music Andrew Barrett, and a Summer 2021 fashion show with commentary by Lesley Carnegie of Carnegie Establishment – a boutique that is directly across Jetty Road from St Andrew’s, or in Lesley’s words :”We are opposite Jesus”. Men’s fashions were featured as well with volunteer models from the St Andrew’s community parading in outfits from Peter Shearer Menswear.

Thanks are also due to Wild Truffle Catering for a special deal on food, The Ivy Room Glenelg for raffle prizes, artists Sharon Hill for the painting of flowers and Denise Warren for the elephant painting, Lyn Mitchell for leading the effort, and the many volunteers responsible for setting up, serving, washing, cleaning and packing up. Special thanks also to our sandwich-makers – Lyn, her husband, and Community Support Co-ordinator Avril Noy.

Thank you everyone!
