On Sunday, our attention was drawn to the baptismal pool in Ephesus from the second century. Though the first church building has turned to dust and the second church (Church of Mary) built around the pool lays in ruins, the pool remains as a testimony of what is central to Christian community – our ongoing participation in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
