Unceasing Prayer

Hello all,

We did not confirm a date for our next gathering but I assume it is safe to keep the first Monday of the month as our usual time for this year. This means we’ll meet on Monday 2 August beginning at 2:00 pm.

I thought we might look at the topic of prayer – specifically what a prayerful life might look like.

Drawing on the Divine Hours in the Christian tradition, we will explore ways to weave pause, interruption, attentiveness and intention into our day to move from simply “saying prayers” to living them. Along the way, we’ll entertain questions such as: What might prayer look like if we do not believe in an interventionist God? How can prayer be personal when the divine is intangible spirit?

This will be an interactive session and we’ll assemble a contemplative prayer book for you to take with you.

Feel free to pass this invitation on to a friend. New participants are always welcome.

Peace,

Christine

What’s Emerging? Week 5: Wednesday 7 July 2021

As part of our NAIDOC week observation, we offered a prayer of thanks for the contributions of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people last night at the Mary’s community meal. Mid-way through, I was distressed to hear someone interject a racist comment during one of the communal responses in the prayer. Later, I found his prayer crumpled up on the table. I would like to say I addressed this situation in a wise and courageous way, but I did not… not this time anyway.

May we take heart from artist Betty Muffler who lives on the APY lands. She speaks of the nuclear testing that happened there, destroying land and killing members of her family. Her paintings express her deep desire for healing.

In Peace,

Christine

What’s Emerging? Week 5: 5 July 2021

As the Spirituality Group for Women gathers to explore the life and wisdom of Julian of Norwich this afternoon, I thought this might be fitting for today – a reminder to seek the peace and love that is always at work:

In Peace,
