Day of Mourning

This Sunday morning (24 January at 10:00 am), we will observe a Day of Mourning.

The 15th Assembly endorsed a Day of Mourning be observed each year on the Sunday before Australia Day in response to a request from the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC).

Interim UAICC Chair Pastor Mark Kickett said the Day of Mourning is the beginning of a journey with Uniting Church and UAICC and First Peoples across the country. It gives us the opportunity to express lament for the injustice of our past and present as well as look to the future with hope and determination.

Sunday is predicted to be hot. The air conditioning and fans will be on and feel free to dress comfortably!

I look forward to sharing this important day with you.

In peace,

Christine
