Prayer to Balance Nature and Flow

Hello all,

I thought I might risk a little “self-promotion” here.

This Thursday (13 August) from 7:00-8:30 pm, I will offer a presentation at the Effective Living Centre’s Seminary of the Third Age (Christ Church, Wayville). The whole month of August is dedicated to the focus of prayer. At Thursday’s session, we will delve into prayer as balance and flow.

I intend to speak about what prayerfulness in life might look like. Drawing on my experience as a Benedictine Oblate, we explore how seeking a work-prayer balance and entering the flow of Spirit throughout the day can shape us into being prayerful people. In other words, moving from saying prayers or even going to worship once-a-week to abiding in God everywhere and always.

If I’ve raised your curiosity, you can use this link to learn more or make a booking.

Peace,

Christine

Reflection for Sunday 9 August 2020

Dear Friends,

Here is the reflection I offered this morning (Sunday 9 Aug).

It has been the most difficult week for Australia since the coronavirus outbreak with positive tests and deaths primarily in Victoria. We also held in our hearts the people of Beirut Lebanon following the catastrophic explosion earlier in the week. It was good to gather together and, as one person put it, feel ourselves enfolded in community.

Attached is my reflection on the Gospel. Following this offering, we spent time writing prayers for ourselves on paper boats that were placed in a beautiful fabric and sand sea-side scene at the centre of our gathering. You may choose to write your own prayer in response to the questions posed in the reflection.

Here is a link to the song Dante’s Prayer which accompanied our prayers:

In peace,

Christine

Worship Resources for 9 August 2020

Dear Friends,

May this find you surrounded by warmth amidst the cold and drizzle of this day.

I’ve attached the worship guide for this week as well as the UnitingCare newsletter. Those who wish are invited to gather for community prayer on Sunday 9 August in the church hall at 92 Jetty Road, Glenelg. Please come from 9:45 am for COVID Safe procedures and we will look to begin at 10:00 am.

The Gospel reading tells of the disciples crossing over the tumultuous sea and being battered by the wind and waves. We may know something of this experience at this time. I pray our engagement with the Gospel, either alone or in community, might bring hope and encouragement in these difficult days.

In peace,

Christine

Worship Resources for 2 August 2020

Dear Friends,

I hope this email finds you well. The COVID numbers in SA seem to suggest stability, but our hearts and prayers are with Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland as well as other parts of the world following another challenging week. May we also pray for those for whom the closing of the SA borders has brought personal impact and suffering.

Attached you will find the worship resources for this week. The focus is on compassion, our full-bodied with-ness with God and one another. May your prayer and reflection bring peace and encouragement.

For those who would like, we continue to meet from 9:45 for 10:00 am start in the church hall to share worship together. Worship will include communion this Sunday, all observed in a COVID safe manner. We will be seated around tables tomorrow with a “café style” worship in the hope of maximising the feeling of community even as we observe physical distancing.

All things are ready…

The Home Worship Guide for this Sunday is available here and the Reflection in Solitude is available here.

In peace,

Christine
